I joined the band in 1989 from the now defunct British Aerospace Manchester Band. My first experience of Poynton Band was at his audition were I was "thrown in at the deep end" having to play Strike Up the Band on what could only be described as a toy drumkit! The audition went well and I’ve been here ever since.

Over the years with the band I have been a part of many great contest and concert performances. A personal contesting highlight was qualifying for the 1st Section National Finals in 2004 and balling my eyes out with Mark Snowden as the results were announced!

On the concert scene there are probably too many to mention but our annual Brass and ABBA/Beatles extravaganzas have become legendary with audiences and band members alike.

Over the years I have been involved with helping to run the band doing various jobs on the committee. It’s been an enjoyable experience overall but its taken me the best part of 20 years to learn how to delegate properly!!!
